About the Role

Alnajar Steel is looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to lead our accounting function in Erbil. You will own the day-to-day accounting operations, deliver accurate and timely financial statements, and manage and develop the accounting team.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting operations: journal entries, general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, and bank reconciliations
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports
• Oversee month-end and year-end closing, ensuring accuracy and on-time delivery
• Maintain the fixed asset register — capitalization, depreciation schedules, and asset tracking
• Analyse financial data to identify trends, variances, and cost-saving opportunities, and support management decision-making
• Ensure compliance with local tax regulations and coordinate with external auditors
• Supervise, train, and develop the accounting team
• Work cross-functionally with procurement, sales, and operations
• Maintain and improve accounting records and processes within the company ERP system

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Accounting Manager or in a senior accounting role
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Strong command of financial statements and financial reporting
• Excellent analytical skills to interpret financial data, identify trends, and support decision-making
• Solid experience with journal entries and general ledger management
• Knowledge of fixed assets — capitalization, depreciation, and asset tracking
• Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills, with the ability to lead a team and work cross-functionally
• Advanced Excel skills
• Fluent in Arabic and English (required); Kurdish is a strong advantage
• Knowledge of Odoo ERP is a plus
